YJC’s mission is success for young people in the workplace and in life. We work with 14-25 year olds to define viable career goals and map out plans to achieve them. We help youth secure their first job, learn job readiness skills including interviewing and resume writing, and improve abilities that lead to success on the job.
YJC was founded in Evanston in 1983. Identifying an increase in participants commuting from Chicago, the agency incorporated an expansion into Chicago in its strategic direction in 2014. YJC currently works in 5 Chicago public high schools as well as Evanston Township High School, and staff work with out-of-school youth, employers, and partner organizations throughout the city.
