Develop and maintain relationships with local employers, providing efficient and effective services to meet their labor demands. Develop and maintain relationships with potential funders that will lead to increased agency funding. Coordinate and implement Job Readiness Assistance for participants within the Strong Futures Program in collaboration with Strong Future case managers/mentors.
Employer Relations / Job Development
Identifies prospective employers that will offer viable, competitive job opportunities for at risk agency clients, using various techniques (e.g., presentations, meetings, cold-calling, web research, etc.)
Identifies current and emerging employment prospects within specific industries and maintains knowledge of growth patterns as well as recessive markets.
Researches, identifies, and contacts community and surrounding area employers regarding current and future job opportunities.
Performs site visits to community employers to explain workforce-related tax credit opportunities. Documents job orders from employers, recording an accurate description of required job duties, educational background, wages, working hours, and other pertinent information by phone or in person.
Collaborates with Strong Futures Case Managers/Mentors to match work history, occupational field and current skills of job-seeking clients to available positions; refers qualified individuals to employers.
Conducts applicant screening, background checks and individual skill assessments with Strong Future Case Manger to assist businesses in selecting qualified candidates for employment.
Contacts employers to determine status of employment eligibility on all client referrals.
Organizes on-site job fairs and hiring/interview events to provide employment opportunities to highest risk individual job seekers in the Auburn Gresham/Englewood communities.
Participates in conferences, workshops, and other external events to gain additional information and resources for local businesses.
Facilitates customized and on-the-job training opportunities in collaboration with employers.
Maintains a current database of employers, including contact names, telephone numbers, industry information, and list of clients previously hired by the employer.
Prepares a monthly report regarding the status of all current and pending employment opportunities identified.
Assists participants in conjunction with Strong Futures Case Managers in assessing their job skills for positions; administers and scores standard career assessments; instructs in job seeking, application procedures, resume writing, interview preparation and job retention skills and attitudes.
Assists participants in preparing job search portfolio.
Provides job search/career information workshops and presentations; arranges for interviews; provides labor market and community resource information; in partnership the Strong Futures Case Managers.
Monitors participant performance on the job. and counsels’ participants when job performance is not satisfactory; works with participants and Mentor/coaches to improve job performance and gain necessary job skills or reviews other employment options.
Maintains contact with employers during the participants employment and reports results to Strong Futures Case Manager and appropriate staff.
Prepares forms and reports related to placement activities; Conducts group information sessions to acquaint clients with businesses scheduled to conduct job fairs.
Recommends distribution of supportive services to Strong Futures Case Mangers for participants (transportation, uniform, and pre-employment assistance) when applicable.
Facilitates Career Development Workshops as scheduled.
Manage strategies and activities for donor cultivation, solicitation, and relations.
Identify/maintain contact with/support development of grant proposals for foundations, corporations, and private funding sources.
