Collaborates with the Senior Director of Gift Planning and the Finance Team to structure complex gifts and individually managed accounts; Structures new gifts along with gift and fund agreements
Collaborates with the Trust custodian to ensure proper delivery of donor gifts
Supports the professional advisory sector marketing strategy, to be implemented and managed by the Strategic Communications Team, through content development, sponsorship support, thought leadership and external presentations to firms and associations.
Ensures recognition and effective on-going stewardship for legacy donors
Collaborates with the General Counsel on fundraising-related legal and policy matters
Serves as philanthropic advisor for a small portfolio of donors
Maintains knowledge of current tax laws and investment issues
Committee participation as assigned
Experience and Skills:
A Bachelor’s degree (MBA or JD strongly preferred)
7-10 years of planned giving or estate planning experience or any combination of relevant education and experience
Deep knowledge of the investment, legal, and tax concepts of charitable giving
Deep knowledge of structuring and facilitating complex charitable gifts ranging up to $100,000,000, including such gifts as business interests, real estate, artwork, and others
A self-starter who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment and has the ability to meet multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Adherence to the highest ethical standards, an optimistic and positive attitude, and an ability to cultivate relationships with professional advisors, prospects, and donors.
Advanced verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present effectively to small and large audiences
An interest in collaborating with colleagues and external stakeholders, when necessary
Excellent organizational skills
Knowledge of the philanthropic climate in Chicago preferred
Ability to travel
Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and Salesforce
