Job Summary: The Development Assistant position at CEL provides a solid base of fundraising experience in a well-established, friendly nonprofit development department. If you are a detail-oriented person, like working with technology, and able to check your own work for accuracy, this is an ideal position to be part of a great organization with a compelling mission. You will learn Raiser’s Edge Donor Software and/or increase your competency with the database—essential knowledge for any future fundraising positions. Daily responsibilities are gift data entry and producing thank you letters, supporting gift solicitation activities, and stewardship of donors. You’ll also do donor research, spread sheet-based activity analyses, and generate reports. The successful candidate enjoys database problem-solving, as well as talking with donors and presents a professional appearance and manner to the public.
Position Responsibilities: Donor Database
Enter gifts and data in Raiser’s Edge
Run reports for analysis and mail merges
Assist with database cleanup
Work with the development team on targeted mailings
Maintain lists, process payments, produce invoices, and other duties as assigned
DONOR RELATIONS AND STEWARDSHIP
Assist gift acknowledgment program, with prompt thank you letters, appropriate to the season and gift
Administer the memorial/tribute program
Assist with donor cultivation events and special events, as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
Professional or volunteer experience in a non-profit organization
Demonstrated experience with database systems, Outlook, Excel, and mail merges. Raiser’s Edge a plus
Accurate data entry and ability to proof own work
Demonstrated critical thinking skills to analyze data and understand its relationship to overall fundraising objectives
Curiosity and eagerness to learn and take on special projects
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively with colleagues in a team environment
Maintain cordial, professional, and service-oriented relationships with donors, board members, vendors, staff, and volunteers
Successful candidate will have attention to detail, ability to coordinate and manage multiple tasks, honesty and integrity, commitment to public service, enthusiasm, flexibility, energy
Candidate must have valid driver’s license, speak clearly, lift and carry and have stamina to participate in events from opening to close and clean-up.
