ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Under the general supervision of the Head Start Coordinator, is responsible for follow up on the medical and dental needs of clients. Responsible for data entry into the COPA system. Assist clients in identifying resources in the community. Participate in ongoing training at the site level and with funders. Advocate for children and families with medical and dental providers.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direction of management staff, assist in securing the needed medical and dental information for children and families.
Review all the information as parents return the documentation and enter all information in the COPA system.
Establish relationships with participant families and serves as the liaison between community resources and the parents and other management staff.
Work with community agencies and institutions to secure services for children and families.
Work with the management staff to identify individual and group training needs for parents and research possible resources to meet these needs.
Participate in the recruitment process, focusing on the medical and dental needs of the families.
Accompany program staff on home visits to follow up on medical and dental needs.
Attend family support meetings, parent meetings, and other meetings or trainings as requested.
Perform record keeping and other reporting functions as required by Head Start Performance Standard. Submit all agency reports in a timely manner.
Maintain knowledge current in field including attendance at seminars, workshops, and in-service training programs.
Attend regular supervision session with supervisor.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Work closely with all staff to ensure that all children receive quality and timely medical and dental services.
Monitor all the medical and dental records to ensure timely completion of all the requirements in these service areas.
Assist with the onsite screenings as requested. (i.e. heights and weights, vision & hearing)
Must have high school diploma/GED and some additional training or coursework.
Must have excellent computer skills and the ability to learn the data entry system quickly and efficiently. Must know related computer applications.
Must be able to work at both delegate agency locations and take direction from different management staff. Must be bilingual, English/Spanish. Certified Nursing Assistant training preferred.
Hours: 40 hours per week
Hourly Rate: Based on Education and Experience required for the position.
