Community Health Partnership of Illinois (CHP) is seeking mission-driven individuals with a passion for the dental / healthcare needs of migrant, seasonal farmworker and rural, underserved populations.
CHP’s Health Information Technology Specialist serves as technical expert for the development, implementation, and support of systems and networks. The Health Information Technology Specialist; supports end users and IT focals at each clinic site with IT related questions and issues, test and optimize the functionality of systems, networks, and data; and define technical requirements. This position requires knowledge of IT principles, concepts, and methods; systems testing and evaluation principles, methods, and tools; IT security principles and methods; Internet technologies; and/or emerging information technologies.
Description of Primary Responsibilities
Responsible for maintaining and keeping the organizations’ telecommunication and Electronic Health Record ”EHR” systems (includes hardware, software, data systems, computers, phones and internet services and other communication systems)
Designs, leads, and facilitates employee training on electronic medical/dental record software and related applications and workflows
Designs, leads, and facilitates employee onboarding and/or ongoing HIPAA compliance and IT security training
Serves as a point of contact for the entire organization for all IT and EHR troubleshooting issues
Oversees the granting of login credentials, access to software applications in accordance with position duties, and configuration of user profiles in accordance with CHP policy and procedure as part of employee onboarding
Grants and revokes access to IT systems and ePHI in accordance with CHP policy and procedure
Conducts regular security audits including, but not limited to, review of user accounts, review of user activity, and assessment of organizational policies and procedures with respect to the security of ePHI during transit, rest, and storage phases
A minimum of a bachelor's degree, preferably in computer sciences or a related field.
Position duties require working knowledge of MEL, HL7, and other Centricity-related applications (Visual Form Editor, CCC text files, Patient Portal, Document Management, etc.)
Position duties require ability to build aptitude within the EHR and its interfaces at the level of an Administrator.
Advanced computer skills with demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office software (particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
Strong organizational skills.
Position duties require proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Position duties require proficient computer, troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
General knowledge of web tools, technologies and terminology.
Willingness to travel regularly throughout CHP’s service area (northern and central Illinois).
