Position: Resale Store Assistant Manager Reports to: Chief Operations Officer
The Assistant Store Manager monitors WINGS resale store’s daily operations and ensures administration of store policies and procedures. The Assistant Manager is responsible for meeting sales goals. Oversee paid staff and volunteers. Work alternating shifts and days, including holidays and weekends, to help train and build staff excellence (paid and volunteer) and to provide consistent amazing customer service. Strive for innovative solutions and alternatives in bettering the business.
Key Areas of Responsibilities: • Create and maintain a positive, professional work environment • Motivate sales staff to achieve net profitability goals • Ensure staff and volunteers are trained and have the resources to perform their jobs • Perform daily inspections of all store departments to ensure standards in visual presentation, stock replenishment and housekeeping are maintained • Hold staff accountable for following WINGS and Store policies and procedures • Provide excellent communications within the store • Ensure communications from WINGS Main Office and Resale Management are delivered to all staff in a timely fashion • Plan and conduct regular store staff/volunteer meetings • During weekly interaction inform management of any problems or issues with staff and/or volunteers • At least once a month meet with each staff member to review goals and processes • Participate in employee reviews • Maintain attractive displays and merchandising techniques while maximizing the use of floor space and schedule regular rotation of displays and merchandise • Ensure consistent pricing with the other WINGS stores, per pricing from the Logistics Center • Complete, on a timely basis, all administrative work as assigned by management
Job Requirements and Qualifications:
• Two years of retail management experience, which includes customer service • Education: Associates Degree preferred, but not required • Entrepreneurial spirit: Take ownership for the operations of the assigned Store • Professionalism: Strong and timely written and verbal communication skills • Excellent time management • Excellent proactive planning • Willing to report to work on short notice in the absence of proper store coverage • Patience in working with a diverse (volunteer and staff) workforce. • Strong problem solving abilities; ability to be decisive in unpredictable situations • Basic understanding of the laws relating to employee supervision and conduct • Good computer knowledge (Word, Excel, and retail applications) • Physical Attributes: Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds on a regular basis • Must be able to bend, reach, lift, twist, kneel, step up, etc., in sustained, repetitive motions
