JOB TITLE: Foster Program Assistant

SUMMARY: The position provides necessary support for the maintenance and expansion of the Foster Program, which currently channels approximately 500 animals annually through foster care.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages foster volunteer on-boarding procedures in a timely manner including: screening foster volunteer applicants, scheduling, maintaining databases and identifying new volunteer potential.
Interacts cohesively with the Foster Care Manager and Clinic team (and other Tree House departments) to be aware of intake plans and potential needs for foster homes.
Establish positive, meaningful, relationships with foster volunteers to encourage continued connectivity to Tree House and strengthen volunteer commitment.
Exceptional verbal and written communication utilized in daily correspondence with foster volunteers, prospective foster volunteers, and other members of the public.
Maintains professionalism, a positive attitude, and a high level of customer service in all interactions.
Proactively monitors animals and acts quickly once it becomes clear that foster care is needed.
Organizes and compiles systematic data for all animals in foster program, ensuring that each foster animal’s record is current and complete.
Comprehends and follows established shelter medical protocols in order to advise foster volunteers on behavioral or medical concerns.
Performs basic medical procedures on cats, including providing vaccinations, medications, injections, etc.
Possesses self-motivated work ethic that promotes continual growth of program and process improvement.
Creatively collaborates in the development of volunteer engagement strategies to support organizational and program specific needs.
Educates Tree House Humane Society staff and volunteers, as well as the general public on feline-related topics.
Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Bachelor's Degree (BA) from four-year college or university, or one-to-two years’ related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Computer skills required: Microsoft Office. PetPoint experience preferred.

General knowledge or passion to learn about feline specific issues including health, behavior, handling, and restraint.

May be exposed to aggressive, ill and/or injured animals, as well as bites, scratches, and infectious (zoonotic) animal diseases.
