The Development Associate will function as part of the development team providing support in implementing all aspects of fundraising. Primary responsibilities include database management, including data entry, and maintaining a portfolio of foundation and corporate donors through grant writing and associated activities. The Development Associate will also play a key role supporting events and the Metro Board.
Responsibilities to include:
Responsible for conducting the full range of activities (e.g. prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals to foundation and corporate sources).
Research foundations, corporations and government prospect to identify new grant opportunities.
Work with finance to gather information necessary to report to corporate/foundation funders on current grant programs and financial reconciliations.
Steward current funders and provide regular written updates (reports, letters, etc.) to corporate and foundation contacts.
Maintain accurate and current records in database, including grant tracking and reporting.
Track and analyze statistics relevant to development Performs donor/fundraiser data entry, generates donor/fundraiser reports, inputs/tracks sponsor-ships, manages contracts, enters matching gifts and other donations.
Assist the Director in preparing for committee meetings as needed. Attend committee meetings and record minutes as needed. Arrange for meeting space, room set-up, meals, equipment, etc.
Assist with all aspects of NHS events including sponsorship solicitations.
Assist the Resource Development Director on special projects as needed.
Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing priorities within the department and the organization.
Grant deadlines met well ahead of deadline.
Identification of new prospects based off of annual plan metrics.
Successful time management.
Consistently positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Education: Minimum of a high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Experience: 1-3 years of experience in grant writing and foundation and corporate solicitation, developing and stewarding relationships required.
Experience with Raiser's Edge development database is required.
Strong verbal and written communication skills including the ability to analyze, and interpret basic data, financial reports, and various documents.
High level of customer focus and organizational skills in addition to the ability to collaborate across departments and programs.
Sense of urgency in responding to common inquiries from regulatory agencies, partners and internal customers.
Ability to write grant applications and letters that conform to prescribed style and format.
Must be able to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite is required.
A passion for mission based work and an interest in community development or the housing industry is required.
