Francis W. Parker School is a renowned JK-12th grade independent day school. Founded in 1901 on the tenets of progressive education, the school currently enrolls 940 students and employs 200 dedicated faculty and staff members who, in addition to assistant teachers, substitute teachers and coaches, work together to ensure that the School lives up to its Mission to “educate students to think and act with empathy, courage and clarity as responsible citizens and leaders in a diverse democratic society and global community.”
The Department of Auxiliary Programs is seeking talented and motivated staff for our Extended Day program. Parker Extended Day staff are responsible for the well-being and supervision of kindergarten and elementary-age children who are in our after school program, Parker PM. Our goal at Parker PM is to ensure that the children are safe, happy and engaged. Our staff must be able to engage with and monitor both groups and individual children to help facilitate a positive after school environment.
Reporting to the Director of Parker PM, Parker Extended Day staff work part-time on a 10-month schedule (late August through early June). Specific hours will range from 11:30am-6:00pm, depending on student enrollment.
Monitor student daily attendance
Set up and clean up classrooms on a daily basis
Plan, prepare and implement daily activities for children
Communicate daily with parents, faculty and staff
Supervise recreational and rest periods
Administer conflict resolution when needed
Supervise students during full day programs on conference and workshop days
Attend regular Extended Day staff meetings
Perform other duties as assigned

Bachelors degree required (or currently pursuing Bachelors with at least two (2) years completed toward degree)
Experience working with young children strongly preferred
Ability to interact well with preschool and elementary-age students, as well as faculty, staff, administration, and parents
Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills
