Jewish Reconstructionist Congregation in Evanston is looking for a Communications and Event Coordinator to join our team. We are known for our cutting-edge approach to creating Jewish Community. Our congregation is as diverse as the American Jewish community, including Jews of varying dimensions of observance and practice, interfaith families, Jews of color, LGBTQ members, and members with a broad range of political and social activism and opinions. We are a highly participatory congregation with a strong lay leadership structure.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential as are skills with an array of digital tools, the ability to create messages tailored to an audience, strong organizational and project management skills, and attention to detail.
We are looking for someone with the ability to prioritize and manage numerous details for multiple projects. Our ideal candidate is a digitally savvy, proactive self-starter with the ability to work independently as well as in a team-oriented, collaborative environment. The primary duties of the Communications and Event Coordinator include:
Responsibility for developing and implementing all communications, including weekly communications, social media and the website.
Ensure common look and feel, consistent messaging, and maximum effectiveness.
Overall operation of our email platform.
Share and adopt best practices.
Maintain congregation’s calendar.
Provide administrative and logistic support for the congregation’s programs.
College Degree Minimum two years previous experience
Comfortable with Microsoft Office and social media applications
Experience with CRM database
Familiarity with email marketing software
Strong working knowledge of CMS necessary
Knowledge of Judaism and Jewish culture
Knowledge of design and desktop publishing software a plus
