The EMR technician is responsible for preloading, post-loading, data integrity and assisting in the everyday management of the electronic health record system under the guidance of the Director of Operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Enter historical clinical information from paper medical record into an electronic medical record system required by preloading/post loading procedures.
Retrieve historical charts for reference and pre-loading per request by providers.
Run basic reports on weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly basis as directed by EMR Tech Supervisor.
Troubleshoot basic EMR issues with super users, clinical managers and ancillary staff to maintain basic EMR function in the clinic
Forward complex EMR or administrative issues brought by clinical staff to the EMR/HIM Supervisor to submit Helpdesk Tickets or consult with Alliance of Chicago Liaison
Maintain relationships with super users, clinical managers and ancillary staff to facilitate medical records abstracting process and basic functionality of Centricity.
Provide feedback to EMR/HIM Supervisor regarding recurring EMR issues.
Perform data integrity corrections as indicated by the Director Quality and Innovations and Health Data Analyst.
Correct erroneous data by utilizing proper procedures in EMR (e.g. LinkLogic, ESM Console, File in Error, etc.)
On board new staff members to the Centricity software. (Training, set up, and follow-up)
Transcribe Release of Information forms into Centricity and maintain log for follow-up according to PCMH requirements
Follow up on any pending Releases of Information that have not been received by AMC
Electronically upload and index any documents that are submitted by external facilities including previous medical records, continuum of care documents, consultation reports, vaccines, etc. and “close the loop” for any of those orders.
Create cases for prenatal and other case management as required by departments
Deliver any faxes requiring provider signatures to the appropriate mailbox at each facility
Works with Supervisor to assist in audits and chart reviews for providers.
Works with Director Quality and Innovation to assist with empanelment
Perform other duties as assigned.
This position requires compliance with all of Alivio’s written standards, including its Standards of Conduct, Joint Commission standards, all policies and procedures and Corporate Compliance requirements. Compliance will be considered as part of the regular performance evaluation.

BA/BS or Associate Degree required. Enrolled in Pre-Med or BSN Program preferred.
Certification or Licensure:
Credentialed as RHIA, RHIT or RN; or candidate must be able to legally sit for the credential exams listed
Previous data entry experience; database management; use of electronic medical records preferred; knowledge of Medical terminology required.

Excellent computer skills; superior communication, interpersonal, and listening skills; must be detail oriented, organized, and have strong multitasking ability
