The part-time Senior Center Activities Specialist, with support from the Senior Center Coordinator, will assist with direct program development and operations. The staff person in this position will work to develop appropriate relationships with seniors to understand their programmatic needs. They will assist in the development, organizing and resourcing of new programs based on the input of the community’s older adult population.
ESSENTAIL DUTIES AND RESPONDSIBILITIES:
Alivio Medical Center’s Senior Center Activities Specialist will work with the Senior Center Coordinator to:
Develop and implement innovative programs
Manage existing programs and systems
Engage seniors in the community to assess their needs
Help to increase senior center presence in the nearby communities
With the Get Covered Illinois and Senior Programs Manager and Senior Center Coordinator, assists in the coordination of volunteer staff Community Senior Advocates including identification, commissioning, training, evaluating and managing performance to meet departmental efficiency and performance measures.

OSHA Category 3 – Involves no regular exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues, and tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues are not a condition of employment
Bachelor’s degree and / or related experience in senior programming
Certification or Licensure:
Senior Health Insurance Program (SHIP) certification and ACA – GCI Certified Application Counselor, In-Person Counselor and / or Navigator license.
Has 2 – 5 years of experience working on benefit access, enrollment and outreach programs with the Latino and or / senior population. Has some experience in programs operations.
Possesses excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Spanish; and interpersonal skills; has knowledge, training and/or experience in Windows-based computer environment; familiarity with community-based organizations and institutions that provide or could provide resources to seniors and their families; knowledge and experience with public benefits for seniors and their families; coalitions and media.
