Position Summary: While maintaining outstanding customer service and person centered life experiences, Facilitators develop and provide challenging individualized education, curriculum development and care for participants. All this will be done through Teamwork. Integrity. Excellence.
Prepare and present lesson plans from designed curriculum for each assigned area with approval by the LE Manager or Director within designated timeframe.
Ensure calendar for activities and outings are discussed with participants, arranged, and are appropriate for growth, learning independence, and fun. Focus on optimum results as they pertain to physical fitness, entertainment, social interaction, community participation, and education for each individual.
Ensure that participants’ goals are completed with the DSP/PAs support, ensuring expected standards of care and quality of services along with appropriate documentation is completed
Assist DSP/PA with personal care duties if needed.
Assure proper participant ratios are met according to the needs of the people in the classroom/group
Provide information to DSPs/Pas to prepare for participants’ daily lessons and goals.
Complete all necessary reports, forms, and documentation accurately and timely
Ensure compliance with safety, health, and participants’ rights; maintain consistent direction and integrity.
Oversee that each participant is treated with dignity and respect, given the opportunity to exercise his/her individuality, and has access to explore opportunities of interest.
Coordinate with Work/Life Consultant, Team Leader, clinical supports, and/or other service providers to provide assistance to each person in accordance with each person’s Individual Service Plan, Behavior Enrichment Plan, and Health/Wellness Plan.
Assist to maintains the physical structure (maintenance, safety, media, and cleanliness) of the assigned classroom(s); report need for repairs, improvements, and risks. Monitor and assure classroom(s) safety and arrange remedies as needed. Ensuring room supplies and equipment is inventoried and available, well organized, and clean; placing orders as needed.
Maintain certification in CPR, First Aid, Abuse/Neglect, and Aggression Management.
Safely drive agency vehicles and follow all rules of the road.
Provide input and/or engage in opportunities for organizational committees or special events.
Respond to behavioral, medical, or other crisis situations.
Attend and actively participate in supervision with Manager keeping them informed of needed information.
Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field preferred.
1 years of experience working with individuals with intellectual and other developmental disabilities preferred
Valid Driver’s License with good driving record.
Minimum 21 years of age.
Effective oral and written communication skills; ability to write reports.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from families, employees, and the general public.
Ability to maintain confidential information.
Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with participants, employees at all levels, families, and the general public.
Ability to use technology to include: email, computers, copy machines, etc.
Ability to work within a team.
