The Accounts Receivable Specialist is responsible for providing financial, administrative, and clerical services in order to ensure effective, efficient, and accurate financial information and administrative operations. The person in this role would perform the following;
Set-up and maintain billing and credits on all student billing accounts
Carry-out billing, collection, and reporting activities according to pre-determined deadlines
Follow-up on the collection and allocation of payments
Respond promptly to all parent inquiries
Monitor After School Programs activities, in conjunction with the Director of After School Programs
Follow established procedures for processing receipts, cash, etc. including the twice weekly updating of the cash log and bank activity spreadsheets
Post credit card activity and cash receipts to general ledger (G/L) on a weekly basis.
Implement and maintain the procedures for daily deposits including the scanning of checks.
Reconcile accounts including the AR sub-ledger balance to the G/L and reconciling tuition revenue by grade headcount to the G/L
Monitor corporate credit card activity including approval, substantiation of business purpose of the expense, receipts, etc. and prepare journal entry for posting to the G/L
Assist in month-end closing and assist with year-end audit preparations
Prepare year-end tax statements and send to parents
Assist in the student re-enrollment process and posting of advanced deposits
Order teacher supplies
All other projects/tasks as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer
Minimum of 5 years of general accounting experience, specifically accounts receivable
Proficient in Microsoft Office and QuickBooks required
Proficient in Blackbaud FE and Smart Tuition preferred
Must possess excellent interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality
