Summary of Position:
The Senior Accounting Manager supports the efficient operation of the ASM Finance Department by managing, supervising and evaluating daily, monthly and annual accounting activities. The Senior Manager is responsible for adhering to acceptable accounting principles and procedures in addition to reviewing and adjusting processes to support overall department goals and objectives. The Senior Accounting Manager supervises the Accounting Coordinator and Accounts Receivable Specialist and is responsible for managing the team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner.
The Manager will assist in providing financial oversight for the organization and manage special projects for the Controller. In addition, the Senior Manager will also assist with all other functions within the department including but not limited to, audit management, monthly closing management, reconciliation management and review, cash management analysis/reporting, preparing and reviewing internal monthly reports and external reports as needed.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage the annual financial audit to ensure that the team meets deadlines in an accurate and effective way
Ensure accurate monthly and yearly end close process to include revenue, expenses and accruals
Ensure that the monthly and quarterly bank compliance are performed in a timely and accurate matter
Oversee, maintain and reconcile accounts on a monthly basis
Provide cash management analysis and reporting on an as needed basis
Maintain and manage relationships with the bank, credit card companies, auditors, committee and board members
Lead on Audit and Investment Committee preparation
Supervise staff including responsibility for hiring, training and developing team members
Provide leadership and direction for staff
Work closely with Director of Financial Planning & Analysis to assist in the management of government grants around financial reporting and invoice management
Collaborate with other Operations Team Managers to support overall goals and objectives
Serve as key point of contact for Payroll, Development and Human Resources to support the reconciliation process between departments
Monitor and analyze department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy
Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Sharp accounting skills and knowledge of accounting principles
Effective communication skills with an emphasis on customer service and the ability to collaborate with ASM staff and management
Proven attention to detail with an ability to record detail transaction information accurately
Ability to organize and prioritize in order to meet strict deadlines
Skilled at preparing accurate and concise reconciling and roll-forward schedules
Experience with producing and reviewing project financial reports
Advanced Excel skills with proficiency in other Microsoft Office suite of products
Experience with exporting and importing large amounts of financial data and verifying accuracy
Proven problem-solving abilities
Knowledge of accounting software preferred
Demonstrates professionalism at all times through phone and in-person interactions, and through written correspondence including email.
A commitment to maintain strict confidentiality
Bachelor’s Degree with a concentration in Accounting, Business or similar field
Master’s Degree or CPA is preferred, but not required
Three plus years of professional accounting experience required
One year of supervisory experience preferred
Strong verbal and written communication skills required
Strong interpersonal, supervisory and customer service skills required
Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines required
