As part of the Housing Team, the Employment Navigator works one-one-one with participants in Inspiration Corporation’s transitional housing programs to access education/training and secure employment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
Exhibit professionalism and high standards in all aspects of performance.
Ensure the efficient and effective provision of meals with dignity and respect in accordance with the agency’s mission.
Work with all departments as appropriate to ensure that the needs of the agency’s participants are addressed.
Attend department and agency meetings.
Maintain case notes on participants' progress and complete monthly reports.
Contribute to the development and evaluation of the navigator model.
Contribute to appropriate data collection and reporting as required by funders, government entities and internal evaluation needs. Complete funder-specific monthly and quarterly reports.
Contribute to the preparation for program audits conducted by government entities.
Represent Inspiration Corporation to the community through events, committees, collaborations and involvement in the communities that Inspiration Corporation serves.
Attend appropriate workshops and seminars for professional development.
Employment & Placement
Assess housing participants’ level of job readiness, provide career counseling and assist in the development of short-term and long-term employment goals.
Use Labor Market Information to help participants in their assessment of employment and training opportunities.
Meet at least monthly with program participants to review and monitor progress towards completing short-term and long-term goals identified in work plans and revise work plans when appropriate.
Educate program participants about education/job training programs and help program participants’ access those resources when applicable.
Assist participants in identifying, choosing, and accessing education/job training programs and supports which best fit their personal and career goals.
Meet with participants in one-on-one meetings to assist with resume development, discuss job search strategies, and connect them directly to employment opportunities.
Establish meaningful relationships with education/job training programs to deepen understanding of the workforce development system and to ensure successful participant referrals.
Coordinate services with housing staff to ensure participant supportive service needs are fulfilled without duplication.
Communicate participant progress on employment goals regularly with housing staff.
Conduct group and one-on-one information sessions about employment navigation services for interested housing participants.
Follow-up with participants and workforce development providers regarding training outcomes and employment status. Provide follow-up supports as needed to ensure participant success.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: The following requirements are representative of the education, experience and skills necessary for the position. A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university is required. One year of experience in workforce development and candidates who have worked with individuals experiencing homelessness or similar populations are preferred for this position. Proficiency in Windows XP and Microsoft Office required. Valid driver’s license required and access to personal vehicle preferred.
