We have opened our search for a full-time Accountant. Under the general supervision and direction of the Chief Financial Officer, the Accountant performs various accounting and financial duties within established policies and procedures or as directed.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Reviews the quality, accuracy and timeliness of the work of the Accounting Staff;
Maintain the general ledger by critically reviewing and posting all information from subsidiary sources in a timely basis;
Prepares the accounting records for each month-end closing procedure;
Receives, researches and provides answers to inquiries from budget managers regarding accounts payable/cash disbursement entries;
Resolves general ledger account assignment inconsistencies and errors;
Maintains an ongoing analysis of all balance sheet accounts;
Records all investment transactions and reconciles general ledger accounts to broker statements;
Record all fixed asset transactions and periodic depreciation expense and maintains the Fixed Asset subsidiary ledger;
Reconciles cash accounts with bank statements and makes necessary adjusting journal entries;
Records concurrently incoming electronic payments and reconciles exceptions;
Prepares filings to governmental agencies and insures payment of liabilities;
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting with a minimum of two years related accounting experience involving general ledger maintenance, preferably in a not-for-profit setting.
