Coordinates, prepares and processes bi-weekly and monthly payroll for hourly and salaried staff and ensures compliance with wage and hour laws. Responsible for related recordkeeping. Interprets, implements and maintains policies and procedures pertaining to payroll. Assists with basic accounting functions.
Prepare and process complex transactions for bi-weekly and monthly payroll using Paylocity or another third-party payroll-processing vendor.
Serve as the first point of contact for staff in matters of pay, time and attendance.
Perform mathematical computations to manually adjust payroll as needed; reconcile and audit figures to ensure accuracy of data prior to payroll submission.
Manage direct deposits, tax withholdings, benefits deductions, garnishments, wage and hour law compliance, and paid time off.
Regularly audit earnings and benefit deductions to ensure accuracy.
Ensure proper and timely funding of retirement plans based on payroll withholdings and employer contributions identified in the payroll register.
Ensure timely and accurate payroll-related filings, including quarterly 941s.
Analyze payroll data to develop and run payroll-related management reports as needed.
Support periodic financial statement and 403(b) audits through payroll reconciliations.
Assist in day-to-day accounting functions including processing accounts payable invoices, entering cash receipts, and performing bank reconciliations.
Bachelor's degree, three-five years of payroll experience, and one year of accounting experience required. Related experience may be substituted for education. Knowledge of the wage and labor laws and basic accounting are required. Experience with Paylocity preferred. FPC or CPP certification a plus. Must be detail-oriented, organized, accountable, able to handle multiple deadlines and be a team player. Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills as well as verbal and written communication skills are a must. Excel skills such as v-lookups and pivot tables required.
