The Director of Community Initiatives supervises direct service and supervisory staff in multi-generational family serving community-based programs. These programs serve families by listening to needs, linking to local resources, and providing direct service, all with a goal of decreasing the impact of violence and poverty for clients who currently reside in, or have recently moved from, underserved communities. As the Director of Community Initiatives, your role will include publicly representing Children’s Home & Aid and your assigned programs, building collaborative relationships with project and community partners, participating in proposals and site visits for new and expanding funding, providing coaching and leadership to program staff and supervisors, and promoting a culture of innovation and Best Practice.
Director of Community Initiatives responsibilities include:
Represent the agency and assigned programs in community networking and collaboration meetings, public speaking and presentations, and media.
Engage in community outreach to promote services, develop programming, and ensure successful collaboration and service provision with community partners.
Directly supervise assigned program supervisors and staff.
Oversee program development and delivery, ensuring licensing regulations, performance standards, and contract requirements are met.
Participate in the development and implementation of program budgets.
Cooperate with research partners to ensure rigorous evaluation and fidelity to model.
At least five years of social services experience required; experience in community-based or violence-prevention programs a plus.
At least five years of supervisory/management experience required.
Experience in community collaboration/coalition building strongly preferred.
Comfort with public speaking and demonstrated ability to communicate clearly in writing and orally required.
A valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and auto insurance required.
