The Life Skills Coach is responsible for the support of the implementation of individual Person Centered Plans utilizing evidenced based practices, methodologies and techniques for lifelong learners with intellectual challenges and/or developmental disabilities, including but not limited to those related to Community Based Instruction. Reporting directly to the Director of Operations and Quality Assurance, the Life Skills Coach provides encouragement, support, and individualized coaching, training and guidance to participants in all areas of life skills development and works in partnership with the Life Skills Instructor, and collaboratively with all Gateway to Learning teams. This is an hourly position from 8:45am – 3:00pm, plus occasional staff meetings and professional development in-service days.
High School Diploma or GED required
1+ years working with individuals with IC/DD, preferred but not required
Must be eligible to be a Direct Support Professional per Illinois regulations and maintain
Ability to work with families and community members
Must be show initiative
Must be a “team player” and be able to work well with others
Good oral and written communication skills
Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds for intermittent lifting
