Willow House is a nonprofit, social service organization whose sole mission is to support children, families, schools, and communities who are coping with grief and the death of a loved one. Founded in 1998, Willow House is the only independent organization in the state of Illinois solely dedicated to supporting this population. We are recognized as a leader in the field of children’s grief locally and nationally. Our mission is based on the proposition that no child or family should ever grieve alone. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, Willow House services are provided at no cost to families.
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Program Director (PD) reports to the Executive Director and manages operations related to all program services, including peer support groups, school programs, community outreach, and implementation of program policies, procedures, standards and curriculum. The PD performs both clinical and administrative functions and is responsible for oversight of clinical program staff as well as clinical student interns.
Manage and supervise peer support group program, site coordinators and group development. Act as clinical site coordinator of at least 1 group site monthly. Oversee survivors of suicide loss support group and expressive arts programs
Manage and supervise school programs and school program coordinator(s), providing clinical consultation and other services to schools and community organizations
Provision and/or supervision of services requested by calls and other inquiries, maintaining clinical referral resources. Coordinate and supervise the processing of intakes and assessments for all participants into Willow House programs
Lead community outreach, industry partnership and stewardship in collaboration with program staff and Executive Director
Manage research, planning, and development of curriculum for Willow House support group, school & community programs
Lead development of new program initiatives in coordination with Executive Director
Plan and implement volunteer facilitator recruitment, training, screening, placement, retention, supervision, and stewardship
Collaborate with staff to develop, plan and facilitate program special events, such as annual Holiday Remembrance Gathering
Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director
This position requires a licensed clinician in the state of Illinois. At least two years clinical experience working with grieving children, teens and/or families is highly preferred. Ability to assess and clinically intervene for high-risk clients is absolutely necessary. Experience preferred in organizational management, program development, staff supervision, public speaking, writing, communication and computer skills.
Licensed clinician required
Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus, but not necessary
