Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Development and Communications Manager is responsible for achieving an annual revenue goal from individual and corporate donors, as well as fundraising events; maintaining excellent donor communication through various touch points and meetings; overseeing an annual giving program; and increasing awareness and donor giving through a strategic communications plan.
Individual and Corporate Giving (40%)
Identify, research, cultivate, and solicit prospective individual and corporate donors.
Manage and track individual and corporate donors using donor management software.
Manage a successful annual giving program by planning annual campaign strategies and goals, overseeing fundraising appeals through direct mail and online, and analyzing donor data.
Direct and monitor the progress of donor relationships.
Collaborate with program staff to facilitate donor engagement opportunities and site visits for grants and foundations.
Support the Executive Director and Grants Manager on grant proposals connected to corporate foundations and giving programs.
Support the Executive Director in preparing materials for corporate pitches, producing correspondence which communicates how gifts have been used, and benefit fulfillment, including print, signage, etc.
Special Events (35%)
Support the execution of America SCORES Chicago’s three signature fundraising events: Inspired Art, Red Carpet Poetry Slam, and SCORES Cup.
Ensure all Special Events achieve/exceed revenue goal by recruiting event committees, teams, sponsors, and individuals.
Supervise the planning of event logistics, including the event budget, and serve as the staff manager on event day to provide an excellent experience for all participants.
Marketing and Communications (20%)
Create and implement social media marketing plan and editorial calendar.
Build team knowledge of social media efforts and collaborate with team members on the creating of content.
Regularly source and post relevant content on organization’s social media platforms and blog.
Create and disseminate quarterly email newsletter.
Support the creation and development of updated print and online marketing materials.
Maintain updated America SCORES Chicago website.
Additional Tasks (5%)
Attend/work at all major program events, including, but not limited to: Fall Frenzy, Community Slam, SHOUT!, and Jamboree.
Attend all (14) Friday Game Day events during the Fall and Spring program, support with logistics as needed.
Requirements and Qualifications
Commitment to America SCORES Chicago’s mission; core values of Teamwork, Leadership, Commitment; and to high-quality execution of all programs.
Minimum of three years’ experience in individual donor cultivation and stewardship.
Proven track record of donor retention and leading successful annual giving campaigns.
Demonstrated success in executing fundraising events that meet/exceed fundraising targets.
Experience managing social media strategy across various platforms (i.e. Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.).
Proficiency with CRM or fundraising software. Experience with Little Green Light preferred.
Familiarity with Chicago philanthropic community preferred.
Familiarity with InDesign, Photoshop, Publisher or other graphics programs a plus.
Exceptional organization skills, high level of efficiency, and ability to manage multiple projects and programs at a time with precision.
High-level of interpersonal, written, and oral community skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with SCORES staff, corporate and community partners, and volunteers.
Demonstrated ability to solve problems strategically and think critically.
Action-oriented and adaptable.
Physical demands include handling the storing, packing, and setting up of sporting equipment weighing up to 20 pounds and climbing up and down up to four flights of stairs at a time at program sites.
Must submit to and clear a Chicago Public Schools background check.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher) and Google Suite required.
Ability to work occasional nights and weekends to support programming and fundraising events.

Additional Salary Information: Salary is commensurate with experience and includes 100% employer-funded medical and dental insurance and six weeks of PTO (combination of vacation days, additional holidays, and CPS breaks) in the first year of employment, with increasing accrual thereafter.
