JOB SUMMARY This position is the visionary and leader of the Rockford Area Arts Council. The Executive Director is responsible for advancing the organization’s strategic plan and leading the Rockford Area Arts Council in a manner that supports and furthers the organization’s mission to support, promote and develop the arts for everyone in the four-county region. This position reports to the Board of Directors.
JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES • Be the voice and face of the Rockford Area Arts Council to the press, elected officials, community partners and the general public of the Rockford Region. • Actively partner and engage with area leaders, artists and organizations, as it furthers RAAC’s mission. • Oversees and manages the annual budget with Morrissey Family Business. • Develop and implement fund development strategies; including growing the membership base, overseeing the grant portfolio, and other avenues that help with the growth of the organization. • Lead and develop a paid staff of 2-3 and team of volunteers. • Produce programs that create opportunities for artists of all ages. • Coordinate community wide arts events. • Work with the public and private educators to create opportunities for artists of all ages.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE • Bachelor’s degree in Arts Education or Business preferred – or equivalent experience. • Minimum 5 years in a senior leadership position, preferably within a not-for-profit. • Minimum 5 years of successful fund development which includes grant writing. • Experience in grant writing and fund development. • Must have a passion for the Arts.
