The Director of Operations and Grant Management is responsible for development, operational and communication related activities for Beyond Sports Foundation. The Director of Operations and Grant Management will work to explore and expand grant funding opportunities, manage the AmeriCorps program and streamline internal operations. Working with the Executive Director, the Director of Operations and Grant Management will promote the public presence of the organization and create strategic organizational and long term goals.
Serve as an active member of Beyond Sports Foundation as a senior member of the team, contributing to the vision and innovation and leadership in our programming.
Manage grant funding, AmeriCorps program, and operational functions for Beyond Sports Foundation.
Work with all Beyond Sports Foundation staff to ensure program alignment with Beyond Sport’s mission, ultimate impact and strategic plan.
Grant and Funding Management
Research, draft and submit grant proposals and applications on behalf of the organization.
Work with the Executive Director to develop Beyond Sport’s individual donor plans and individual giving campaigns each year.
Manage donor database (Salesforce), create donation thank you letters, run donor reports, and maintain current donor contact records. .
Work with the Executive Director on logistical planning and execution of Beyond Sport’s annual fundraising events.
AmeriCorps Grant Program
Manage AmeriCorps grant application process.
Implement AmeriCorps grant, ensuring all volunteer paperwork is collected, processed, and in compliance.
Work with Serve Illinois on implementation of the AmeriCorps Grant.
Manage the effectiveness of AmeriCorps through tracking and management of member hours.
Work with the Director of Education and the Director of Athletics to ensure AmeriCorps members are completing their service requirements, hours are reported, and members are in compliance.
Work with Finance and HR Manager to ensure member stipends are paid and reimbursements are submitted.
Consult with Beyond Sports senior staff regarding hours and other AmeriCorps related items.
Work with the Beyond Sports senior staff to plan AmeriCorps Volunteer recognition events and service days.
Improve the operational systems, processes and policies to support Beyond Sport’s mission.
Facilitate and assist with planning weekly staff meetings and overall staff communication.
Coordinate Beyond Sport’s communication efforts, including; creating and sending monthly newsletters and e-blasts promoting the work of Beyond Sports Foundation, coordinating year-end mailing, and proofing all mass donor communication.
Assist with fiscal budgeting and assessing the essential services of the organization.
Work with vendors to coordinate organization needs: weekly cleaning, website updates, IT, etc.
Perform other duties as assigned (i.e., order/monitor office supplies, contact with landlord, etc.).
2+ years grant writing experience preferred
2+ years AmeriCorps or other grant management experience preferred
Proficient in Word and Excel
Proficiency in Salesforce a plus
Undergo a Federal and State Background check

The foundation is committed to helping students achieve their athletic goal of receiving a college athletic scholarship in their sport, while also giving students the support necessary to be successful off the playing field.
