The Maintenance Worker is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment at Gads Hill Center. This individual adheres to a daily schedule of cleaning and maintenance tasks. In addition, the Maintenance Worker inspects the facility daily and identifies, reports and resolves potential safety hazards, repairs needed, and/or areas in need of disinfecting. This individual will be assigned to perform building maintenance, repairs, and installations as needed.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain a safe and clean environment according to assigned schedule. Complete emergency and priority tasks assigned by Operations staff
Responsible for the trash removal from the classrooms after meal periods, replace liners, and maintain garbage bins and lids in a clean, odor free condition
Arrange furnishings and equipment for the purpose of providing adequate preparations for meetings, classroom activities, and events.
Sweep and mop floors; vacuum carpets.
Wash and sanitize toilets, sinks, and restock disposables.
Wipe down mirrors and windows.
Conduct daily Playground Inspection. Complete appropriate form and submit to Reception.
Conduct daily rounds outside the site to remove debris of all kinds and remove graffiti from all surfaces inside and outside the school and around the site grounds if needed.
Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and submit orders to Reception as needed.
Perform building maintenance, repairs, and installations as needed. (i.e. wall patching, plumbing, floor repairs, steam-clean, shampoo carpets, strip, seal, finish, and polish floors)
Identify and report problems regarding site cleanliness, safety, and needed repairs to the Operations Coordinator.
Attend to the following seasonal tasks as needed: snow/ice removal, mowing of grass, trimming shrubbery, raking leaves, planting of flowers, etc.
Transport mail, supplies, and/or other items between sites on a regular basis or as assigned.
Plan and complete assigned duties within scheduled deadlines.
In addition to the responsibilities listed above, all Gads Hill Center employees are responsible for the following:
Participating in agency outreach and recruitment events, including evenings and weekends.
Participating in supervision meetings and workshops within the agency and outside (if applicable).
Participating in civic engagement activities that advance the mission of Gads Hill Center.
Advancing parent leadership development.
Performing other duties as assigned.
Previous janitorial and maintenance experience required.
Ability to handle heavy cleaning equipment, machinery, and furniture.
Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and other hazardous materials
Dedicated and cautious; high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Able to work on foot for extended periods of time
Must be able to lift a minimum of 75 pounds.
GED or High School Diploma preferred.
Excellent interpersonal communication and organization skills.
Ability to pass a criminal record and child abuse/neglect registry check.

Entry Salary Range: $13/hour
Schedule: Full Time: 7:00 am – 3:00 pm
