Partner with the Director of Teaching & Learning to prepare and co-deliver curriculum with colleagues and teachers.
Build positive relationships with colleagues, teachers, and administration representatives to ensure Lumity is being a positive and valued partner.
Help keep the curriculum updated and age appropriate for teens.
Integrate social emotional learning curriculum with experiential learning projects and ensure corporate volunteers get basic training on key concepts being taught to students.
Take advantage of “teachable moments” to reinforce key concepts while in the classroom, meetings and hallways to help support a culture change within the entire school over time.
Gather data from students and staff to document the impact of the program for evaluation purposes and for use in marketing materials. Produce reports and articles based on the data collected to document Lumity’s model.
Represent Lumity at stakeholder meetings and forums and present program information and outcomes with varied audiences.
Skills & Traits
Experienced in instructional coaching with youth and social emotional intelligence training.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Well organized, with an ability to be self-directed while balancing multiple tasks within a multi-cultural, team-based work environment.
Ability to coordinate and collaborate among stakeholder groups including Lumity staff and board, corporate volunteers, teachers, students, school administration, and contractors.
Willingness to hold team members accountable, coming from a growth mindset.
Ability to articulate the issues facing youth and the STEM workforce and speak publicly on the issues.
A Teaching Certificate is preferred along with a couple years of experience teaching teens.
Working knowledge of curriculum design and implementation and course correcting based on experience and program evaluation results.
Prior experience working with at-risk teens.
Knowledge and awareness of the public school’s system, education, and computational thinking.
Additional training in team leadership preferred.
This position requires travel to appointments in the Chicago area. Must have access to a working vehicle, a valid driver’s license, and proof of insurance.
This position requires working evenings (currently 3-4 evenings a year) and maybe periodic Saturday hours for teacher professional development.
