About TASC, Inc.
The Agency: TASC, Inc. (Treatment Alternatives for Safe Communities) is a statewide, nonprofit agency that advocates for people in courts, jails, prisons, and child welfare systems who need treatment for alcohol/drug and mental health problems. TASC places people in community-based treatment programs across Illinois and monitors them on behalf of the courts and other referring entities. Through direct service and public policy advocacy, TASC improves access to quality care for under-served populations and communities so they can become healthy and self-sufficient. TASC considers addiction and mental disorders as health rather than legal matters. External research shows that TASC clients are twice as likely to complete treatment programs and half as likely to return to the criminal justice system compared to those who do not receive its services.
