Summer Adventures in Learning is a unique summer day camp experience hosted on the campus of Science & Arts Academy (SAA) in Des Plaines, IL. Programming is available for all 3 year olds through rising 8th graders in the community, including those who attend SAA and other schools during the year. There are no other eligibility requirements. Summer Adventures in Learning is a highly sought after day camp in the area and spaces often fill well before the summer begins! Staff choose to work at Summer Adventures because of the professional challenge, the opportunities to build meaningful relationships with campers, the creativity of programming, and the support offered by colleagues and administrators. Enrichment Teachers are responsible for designing, planning, and teaching their enrichment class(es) for 1st-8th graders. Most classes run one hour long and meet every day during a two-week session. Class sizes are small and for a specified grade range so that campers can get the most out of their experience. Last summer we offered over 70 distinct classes covering topics in math, science, engineering, visual and performing arts, and more! We are always looking for new ideas that campers will love!
Teachers must commit to working at least one entire two-week session, however, within that session there is flexibility with teaching hours between 9am and 12pm. Generally speaking, teachers are expected to arrive by 8:45am and may leave after campers are dismissed and the classroom is cleaned.
