Position Purpose: The Youth and Education Coordinator is responsible for developing, coordinating, and delivering out-of-school time (OST) programming for youth within CHA sites, and external locations, performs functions to coordinate and implement out-of-school time youth development activities.
Program instruction, finding youth program resources, materials management, developing community relationships and strategic partnerships.
Oversight of the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) which includes securing worksites placements for program, worksites agreements, completion of new hire paperwork for youth, supervising, and monitoring youth on work sites and facilitating workshops pertaining to job readiness skills.
Maintain and continue to develop comprehensive curriculum/ programs in OST education for K-12th grade youth
Proactively recruit youth to participate in the program and manage student application process
Develop positive relationships with key stakeholders, including CHA leadership and staff, CHA residents, Local and Central Advisory Councils, CHA leasing office staff and other community partners.
Ensure that the program achieves and maintains compliance with all CHA requirements
Assist in preparation and administration of program budget and reports
Bachelor’s Degree in Youth Development, Education, Workforce Development or closely related field from an accredited institution.
Minimum of three years of related experience
Experience in after school or out of school time programs required
Bilingual language abilities a plus, but not required
Ability to be flexible in work scheduling
Ability to pass child abuse/neglect and a criminal background check
A demonstrated ability to work independently, while prioritizing and managing multiple assignments simultaneously as needed
Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills with cultural competence for working with economically, ethnically, and culturally diverse populations
Ability to travel and to work nights and weekends as needed
