Position Purpose: The STEAM & Youth Program Coordinator is responsible for delivering robust Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) curriculum, programs. including hands-on field trips. The primary responsibilities for the After School Program Instructor includes promotion, implementation and evaluation of STEAM based programs for youth that builds interest, confidence and competency as well as strengthens life skills.
Preparation of program learning activities and instructional materials
Compliance with state and local policies and procedures including but not limited to submission of progress report to local schools
Delivery of instruction, including being prepared for and meeting programs at scheduled times
Fully understand and internalize lesson content and concepts related to Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and/or Math (STEM).
Passion for science, technology, engineering, arts and math highly desired.
Maintain behavioral expectations for students in keeping with established methods and procedures
Assist students of varying ability with robust STEM projects
Assist in the distribution of publications and additional information used to promote youth programs as offered
Bachelor's degree or student working towards a degree required
Experience using technology in teaching, training, or tutoring of youth ages 9-14 required
Training or experience in social emotional learning, executive function, desired
Classroom teaching experience highly desired
Available to teach within schools, YWCA Laura Parks and Mildred Francis Center and/or YWCA Julian Grace Innovation and Technology Institute.
Available to teach during the day, in the evening and/or on the weekends.
Experience working in a school setting OR working with groups of 15-25 people preferred
