Position Title: Family Support Specialist

Position Purpose: The Family Support Specialist supports parenting adolescents in their development as effective parents through group meetings and home visits, in addition to providing leadership of peer group services for added support and increased knowledge sharing about parenting issues.
Ensure member understanding and development of healthy attachments and positive relationships between teen parents and their children.
Develop home-based, developmentally appropriate and culturally sensitive service plans that identify and address members’ and their children’s needs
Complete home visits in accordance with program requirements
Foster member involvement in positive cognitive, emotional, health, language and social development in their children
Maintain all required and appropriate records, reports and statistics of member caseload
Assist with community outreach to increase program participation
Participate in all required training sessions as designated by funders and YWCA program guidelines
Associate degree from an accredited college or university with a preference for coursework in Early Childhood Development
Minimum of one year of similar work experience; experience up to three years is preferred
Prior experience in the Early Childhood field, working with children and families of different ages and ethnicities preferred
Bilingual language abilities a plus but not required
Must have valid driver's license and good driving record as driving a 14-passenger van may be required
Annual credentialing for PAT (Parents as Teachers) with current knowledge for Ages & Stages as part of 15 hours of continuing education annually
Experience in developmental screenings of various levels and types is preferred but not required
Ability to work collaboratively or independently, depending on the situations
Strong relationship-building and communication skills, both oral and written
Basic skill level in MS Outlook, MS Office suite of Work, PowerPoint and Excel
