Marwen seeks a passionate and innovative fundraiser who believes in the power of young people, community, and the arts to lead efforts for social change. The Manager of Donor Relations is a cross-functional relationship manager that is crucial to growing Marwen’s institutional and individual giving programs. In collaboration with the Director of Development, this position will manage existing corporate funder relationships while prospecting new opportunities. In addition, this position will develop and manage an innovative individual giving program, with the goal of growing a sustainable and long-term individual giving program. The Manager of Development Relations will support the Executive Director and Director of Development in the management of leadership level donors, as well as key strategic relationships. Additionally, this position will collaborate with the Manager of Development Operations in the management of Marwen’s two signature fundraising events, Paintbrush Ball and Art Fair, specifically focusing on securing sponsorship and financial support.
Oversee a portfolio of existing corporate funders, including maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, and collaborate with the Manager of Development Communications in preparing proposals and stewardship reports.
Conduct ongoing prospect research, and in partnership with the Director of Development, identify and implement innovative strategies to attract new and increased funding from corporations.
Design and implement stewardship and cultivation strategies to advance and maintain key corporate relationships.
Plan and execute funder visits for the Executive Director, Director of Development, and engage other staff and Board members as necessary.
Manage corporate fundraising budgets and track progress toward goals; report to Marwen directors and trustees as required.
Monitor local and national trends in corporate philanthropy, particularly in the arts and culture, education, and youth development space.
Define individual donor categories and work with the Director of Development to conceive and implement individual giving plans for each donor group.
In collaboration with the Manager of Development Operations, utilize Raiser’s Edge to create and implement a moves management system, charting out appropriate prospecting, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship steps, particularly for high-priority prospects.
Manage a small portfolio of leadership level donors, as well as assisting the Executive Director and Director of Development in the solicitation and cultivation of major gift donors.
Develop and implement strategies to attract corporate and individual support of events, as well as manage the solicitation of sponsorship.
Collaborate with the Manager of Development Operations in ensuring the success of all fundraising and cultivation events.
Work closely with the Senior Manager of Communications in ensuring proper stewardship and recognition of all corporate and individual sponsors in all events related material.
The ideal candidate will have:
Bachelor’s degree required
3-5 years experience in corporate, individual or event fundraising or related experience
Enjoyment of and preferably experience with relationship management, as well as a working knowledge of the Chicago and national philanthropic community.
Experience with or interest in the visual arts or creative youth development program
Professionalism and the ability to communicate effectively with staff, donors, and volunteers
Strong organizational skills and the ability to work autonomously setting goals, establishing priorities, and achieving objectives
Possess a high level of initiative, creativity, energy, flexibility and resilience, as well as a willingness and excitement to work in a highly collaborative environment.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Raiser’s Edge, or related fundraising database

The starting salary for this position is $45,000, commensurate with experience.
