The Senior Director, reporting to the Senior Vice President of Employee Resources and Administration, oversees a team of Recruitment, Retention, Personnel Compliance, and Benefits professionals for our state-wide staff of over 800 mission-driven employees within 22 offices. In this senior leadership position, you’ll have a hands-on role in addressing day-to-day employee relations needs, while also engaging with other senior leaders in developing a forward-thinking strategic plan for the Employee Resources Department.

Participate in the development and implementation of an Employee Resources long-range strategic plan.
Manage the development, delivery, and evaluation of a comprehensive staff recruitment, retention, training and development program that is consistent with and supportive of the goals of the Agency’s strategic plan.
Direct the evaluation, implementation, and management of employee benefit programs, personnel records and employee related services; explore opportunities to enhance employee benefit programs consistent with changing environment and employee needs and negotiate rate and program options with insurers and outside program administrators.
Maintain current knowledge of applicable Human Resource/Employment Law.
Administer an agency-wide performance appraisal system.
Counsel supervisors around appropriate personnel actions.
Oversee the preparation of personnel reports to meet internal and external reporting and contractual requirements.
Participate in external salary surveys and analyses as required; oversee ongoing compensation analysis efforts.
Provide direct supervision, training, and evaluation for assigned Employee Relations staff, including the Director of Recruitment & Retention and the Benefits Manager.
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or Business Administration; Master’s Degree preferred.
At least five years’ experience in human resources administration; two years in mid-level management required.
Extensive knowledge of employee benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and 401 (k) plans required.
A thorough understanding of local, state and federal laws pertaining to fair employment practices and DCFS licensing standards is essential.
Must have a strong customer service orientation.
