The mission of North Side Housing and Supportive Services is to end homelessness by providing individuals with housing and comprehensive supportive services. To accomplish its mission, North Side Housing provides a variety of programs, including permanent supportive housing, emergency shelter, day support services, case management, and integrated health services.
As the executive officer of North Side Housing, the executive director is responsible for ensuring excellence in all areas of agency performance.
Job responsibilities include:
Program Management * Ensure compliance with all contract goals and objectives * Implement new programs and services * Facilitate internal work teams, committees, and other skill-building activities * Evaluate program effectiveness and integrate quality assurance activities in various programs * Coordinate and implement strategic planning activities * Facilitate data and policy analysis, report generation, consultation, planning and writing proposals/concept papers
Fiscal Management * Provide primary oversight and authority for all fiduciary responsibilities of the agency * Oversee the Finance Department and manage all sources of revenue/income, including governmental contacts, foundation grants, and donations * Develop and implement an annual agency budget * Monitor and approve all expenditures * Develop and implement a financial management schedule to ensure timeliness of all financial reports and sound financial management * Work with the management team to evaluate agency and individual program financial needs and develop a plan to meet those need
Fundraising * Develop and implement an annual fundraising plan * Develop additional fundraising sources other resources necessary to fulfill the agency’s mission
Board Relations * Maintains communication and works cooperatively with the Board of Directors * Participates in planning long and short term goals of the organization * Participates in various Board committee activities as needed * Secures Board approval for all relevant agency policies, procedures, budgets, etc. in accordance with Board governance requirements
Staff Development and Management * Train and mentor management staff in performance of budgeting, personnel and other management functions * Supervise executive staff members and prepare annual performance evaluations * Oversee all employment practices and personnel policies and procedures for the agency
External Representation and Advocacy * Participate on external committees relevant to the agency’s mission, service delivery and policy issues * Network with community-based service providers, funders, community representatives, and other key stakeholders * Represent the agency’s agenda with legislative, state, and local government
Mandatory Job Qualifications
The ideal candidate should either have a Master's Degree in Human Services and 5 years of experience in non-profit program management, or a Bachelor's Degree and 8 years of experience in non-profit program management as well as experience in staff development, training, budgeting, public speaking, and strategic planning.
The ideal candidate will have skills and knowledge in the following areas:
* Relevant experience in human services, substance use, mental health, and/or homeless services * Program operations * Program development * Personnel management, organizational development and structure, and human resources * Fundraising, marketing, and donor relationship development with regard to foundations, individuals, major gifts, corporate gifts, congregations, community organizations, special events, and other areas * Organizational budgeting and strategic planning * Financial management and operations * Governmental funding, proposals, relationships, contracts, and compliance * Relationships with social service partners and regional organizations * Maintaining an environment that emphasizes the dignity of all clients, employees, volunteers and others.
* Effectively delegate workload * Able to articulate large scale issues affecting the agency as a whole * Knowledge of agency’s values, policies, mission and direction * Demonstrated knowledge of systems and client population related to the agency’s programs and services * Knowledge of nonprofit budgeting and financial management procedures * Demonstrated knowledge of program management and implementation
