JOB OBJECTIVES: The Director of Development reports to the Executive Director and works in collaboration with the Board of Directors Resource Development Committee. The Director of Development leads all private sector fundraising efforts and generates a substantial part of the agency’s revenues necessary to sustain and develop agency programs and services. Furthermore, the Director of Development is responsible for all PR and marketing efforts, including special events and community outreach. This management position includes leading the Resource and Development (RD) team.
Create and lead the implementation of strategic long-term and operational fundraising plans, including all development and giving activities such as donor acquisition, prospect research, direct mail, major and planned gifts, special event oversight, direct cultivation/solicitation/stewardship of individual and organizational donors
Identify and secure funding opportunities such as corporate partners, government agencies/grants, private philanthropy/grants; Serve as principal author and manager of all public and private grant proposals and reporting to foundation, government and corporate philanthropic sources
Serve as staff liaison to the Board of Directors Resource Development Committee, on staff Management Team, community committees and represent the agency at all major fundraising events
Track and assess Resource and Development progress towards goals and provide regular reports to the Executive Director and Board of Director’s RD Committee
Supervise, support and evaluate the Resource Development staff
Bachelor's Degree in related field plus a minimum of five years experience in development including experience as a resource development generalist, or demonstrated success in a closely related field; CFRE a bonus
Demonstrated knowledge of sound fundraising/philanthropic strategies and ethical practice, paired with proven success in donor pipeline management and growth
Strong strategic acumen and ability to shape plans and activities to align with agency strategic goals
Supervisory and managerial experience, ability to lead, coach and develop RD team
Strong literacy in database management, oversight of website implementation and superb written and verbal communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to build strong and dynamic partnerships with corporate partners, philanthropic sources and community providers
Skilled at projecting a positive, informed and professional image of TriCity Family Services and its mission to the community
Knowledge of mental health and/or human service non-profit agencies a plus
