This position is responsible for providing oversight of residential services at Rebecca Johnson Apartments which include but are not limited to facilitation of tenant meetings, responding to tenant complaints; completing apartment inspections; assisting in crisis intervention, assisting with reporting and program planning, oversight and assisting with development and implementation of programming in collaboration with Learning Center Coordinator.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Ensure program and participant safety, security and integrity during designated hours.
Provide support and assistance with moving into and exiting Rebecca Johnson Apartments.
Facilitate Tenant Meetings in Rebecca Johnson Apartments.
Communicate any problems or concerns about participants or day to day operations of program to Residential Manager.
Communicate directly and effectively with other program staff and program participants.
Execute and maintain tenant-centered programming.
Maintain eviction prevention procedures and harm reduction strategies.
Enter data in HMIS
With Learning Center Coordinator, plan and assist with activities in the Learning Center and in Rebecca Johnson Apartments that will support the Deborah's Place strategic plan and program objectives and outcomes.
Work with Residential Manager and Director of Residential Services to develop and maintain program goals and outcomes.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree preferred.
Licensure and/or Certification: N/A
Job Experience: 1-2 years of residential services experience in supportive housing setting; 1-2 years working with people with mental illness, substance abuse and/or both
Special Knowledge & Skills: Knowledge of issues surrounding homelessness, mental illness and chemical dependency; proficiency in Microsoft Office software, effective oral and written communication skills, good organizational skills, conflict management and crisis intervention skills; ability to communicate effectively with case management, staff, psychiatrist and other providers around mental health and medical issues; demonstrate clear and professional boundaries; act in a professional manner; Valid Illinois driver's license, proof of insurance and own vehicle preferred.
