The Campaign Project Director is a highly focused and detail-oriented development professional with exceptional writing and project management skills. In partnership with the Senior Director of Development Strategy & Stewardship, the Project Director will be responsible for supporting the work of Board members, development teammates, and Shedd leadership to ensure the success of significant fundraising efforts leading up to the organization’s centennial. Key to this support will be the management of systems to ensure clear and accurate record keeping, prospect tracking, and timeline management.
This is a four-year term appointment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Demonstrate commitment to Shedd’s vision, mission and values.
Partner with the Senior Director, Strategic and Philanthropic Initiatives as well as program, development, and communications team members, to write proposals soliciting support from individuals, foundations, and corporations.
Create tools for the CEO, Board of Trustees, Chief Development Officer, Major Gift Officers and campaign volunteers that identify, cultivate, solicit and steward donors to the campaign.
Support campaign committee members with solicitation preparation and data entry follow-up, ensuring appropriate campaign donor stewardship.
Supervise a communications consultant engaged to develop the case for support, campaign collateral, proposals, and stewardship reports.
Prepare confidential Board and committee reports as needed, occasionally presenting to the Board of Trustees and other committees as appropriate.
Oversee the campaign operating plan, communications timeline, and named space inventory.
Oversee campaign gift documentation and acknowledgement process to ensure personal, timely, and appropriate recognition of support.
In partnership with the prospect development team, maintain a system that tracks campaign and major gifts progress (moves management) via Shedd’s database of record, Tessitura.
Create and distribute prospect reports for volunteers and Shedd leadership, and update documents and tracking systems.
Work with the prospect development team to provide research as it pertains to campaign donors and prospects.
Represent the development department and the campaign effort on intradepartmental teams ensuring clear lines of communication and coordination.
Partner with Shedd’s special events team to plan and execute campaign events including donor receptions and organization-wide celebrations.
Manage donor recognition preferences and execute physical recognition including donor walls, named spaces, and impact reports.

Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree and 5-8 years of professional experience in fast-paced, detail-oriented workplace or development team with a track record of success
Knowledge of Tessitura strongly preferred
Progressively challenging fundraising experience and knowledge of the major gifts cycle (moves management)
Strong ability to juggle long-range strategic planning while prioritizing and completing multiple tasks simultaneously
Experience conceptualizing, writing, and coordinating advancement materials a plus
