American Association of Neurological Surgeons is actively hiring for a Staff Accountant to join our Accounting team in Rolling Meadows, IL. This opportunity will allow you to promote the highest quality of patient care and advance the specialty of neurological surgery. We are looking for a reliable Staff Accountant to assist with the preparation of AANS’ and related organization’s internal and external financial statements The goal is to enable the organization's leaders to make sound business decisions and meet the organizations goals.
Assists with AANS’ and Related Monthly Financial Close Process
Prepare, analyze and maintains AANS’ & related organization’s investments schedules and various treasury reports. In addition, works closely with AANS’ CFO on its investment policy.
Creates new financial reports, from start to finish, within Management Reporter when necessary.
Maintains certain prepaid, deferred and liability accounts.
Prepares journal entries and various services related to the financial statements of the AANS and its related organizations.
Maintains the chart of accounts to ensure that AANS’ general ledger and financial reporting software are both accurate and current.
Prepare, analyze, and maintains AANS’ & related organization’s general ledger.
Assist With Year End Procedures/ Budgeting Process:
Prepares annual audit work papers for areas of responsibility as outlined in AANS’ annual auditing firm’s prepared by client (PBC) listing.
Prepares and files various sales and use tax returns.
Assist in the semi-monthly refund process: This involves the issuance of refunds for a variety of scenarios including vendor or member duplicate payments to the AANS and related.
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required
2 years of accounting experience required, general ledger and related sub-systems experience required
Proficient user of finance software, including accounts receivable, budget systems
Strong analytical, communication and presentation skills
A solid understanding of financial statistics and accounting principles
Working knowledge of all statutory legislation and regulations
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word/Excel and PowerPoint required - ability to create, maintain and understand complex spreadsheets and database applications, required
