Francis W. Parker School is a renowned JK-12th grade independent day school. We are seeking a dynamic, innovative, and experienced STEM and Coding Teacher to join our expert Intermediate and Middle School faculty in a one (1) year, non-tenure track position. The STEM and Coding Teacher teaches students in Grades 4-8 coding within the context of in-class projects (working with their teachers) and other activities. The teacher must be experienced in working with Intermediate and Middle School-aged students and flexible enough to work with the varied personalities and teaching styles that exist throughout these divisions.
Coordinate and sponsor Coding, Creative Computing, and other STEM Clubs that may develop in the Intermediate and Middle Schools
Coach the Middle School Lego Robotics teams with support from assistant coaches
Design, support, and implement innovative uses of STEAM, the engineering process, and design thinking in the classroom, collaborating with IS and MS faculty on the planning and teaching of such curricula
Assist with school-wide special projects such as Lower/Intermediate School Science Fair
Attend weekly faculty meetings and serve on committees within the School
Maintain and improve competence through regular professional development activities

Bachelor’s Degree in Math or Science or a closely related discipline
Middle School classroom experience
Knowledge of typical Middle School Science and Math curricula is essential
Strong knowledge of block-based coding applications (e.g. Scratch, CoSpaces)
Demonstrated record of developing one’s own cultural competency and incorporating diversity, equity and inclusion in practices and curriculum
Ability to differentiate instruction to include all learners
Openness to the possibility of being an advisor and facilitating class trips
Ability to collaborate, create, and modify curriculum with colleagues on a team
Commitment to ongoing professional development in math, science and progressive education
The ability to communicate clearly, honestly, and empathically with early adolescents
Experience in communicating effectively with parents/guardians
Interest in extra-curricular involvement with students
