The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (LAS) at the University of Illinois at Chicago is seeking a Director of its Office of Social Science Research (OSSR). This position is responsible for the operational direction and management of the unit which provides sponsored project administration, as well as advice and guidance on funding opportunities in the social sciences and humanities. The Director will work with faculty and other investigators in the humanities and social science departments within LAS to identify funding opportunities, develop and submit proposals and manage sponsored projects from proposal submission to closeout. Will be responsible for the daily operations of the office along with providing communications, training and support for investigators on proposal application preparation, post-award administration and compliance.
The position requires a Bachelors’ degree in liberal arts & sciences, business or a related field. A Masters’ Degree/Doctoral Degree in public administration, social sciences or a related field is preferred. Certification as a Research Administrator preferred. Prior experience and working knowledge of external funding opportunities including federal, state, foundation, and private sources in the areas of social sciences and humanities. Five (5) years of experience in grant administration. Excellent communication (oral and written), presentation, organization and computer/pc skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access….) and other related software.
