Magis Americas is seeking an experienced professional to join its team as Development Officer - Grants, reporting to the Executive Director. The Development Officer - Grants will work to raise private funds to support the work of the organization. This includes responsibility for developing an annual grants strategy, managing the proposal process to ensure timely submission of all required materials and coordinating grant compliance with Global South partners. The Development Officer - Grants will also support Magis Americas’ individual giving initiatives. The position requires coordination of elements designed to enhance positive relations with all foundation and corporate partners.
Conduct prospect research to identify, cultivate and solicit new grants from foundation and corporate sources.
Develop and maintain an annual grants strategy and calendar.
Responsible for conducting the full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals to foundation and corporate sources.
Support the Executive Director in the cultivation and stewardship efforts of all foundation/corporate partners.
Coordinate with Global South partners to ensure timely compliance with all grant reporting as required by foundation/corporate partners.
Maintain donation and grant records in CRM software, including grant tracking and reporting.
Support other development initiatives taken on by Magis Americas as needed.
Support cultivation and stewardship efforts for all individual donors, including online donors, monthly donors, annual donors, volunteers and event attendees.
Assist with donor relationships including receiving and handling donor inquiries, organizing visits, direct mail and online solicitations and other mailings to individual donors.
Coordinate gift processing, including management of gift acceptance and sending acknowledgement letters.
Minimum of three years of Development experience.
Demonstrated ability to write successful grant proposals; previous experience with nonprofits a plus.
Excellent writing, editing and oral presentation skills.
The ability to develop and cultivate positive relationships with colleagues, current and prospective foundation/corporate partners and Global South partners.
Excellent interpersonal, analytical and organizational skills, as well as attention to detail.
Demonstrated ability to work proactively and independently, as well as in a team environment
Ability to manage time effectively and manage multiple priorities.
Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Google Drive and CRM software. Experiences with Salesforce a plus.
Experience with the United States Government (USAID, Department of Labor, etc.) grant proposal process a plus.
Familiarity with the Society of Jesus a plus.
