The Healthcare Associated Infection and Antimicrobial Resistance (HAIAR) Intern will support the HAIAR team at Hektoen with antimicrobial stewardship initiatives, supporting healthcare facilities with surveillance of multi-drug resistant organisms and infection prevention activities in Illinois.
These activities include:
Annual Illinois Summit on Antimicrobial Stewardship
The Precious Drugs and Scary Bugs Campaign
Assisting healthcare facilities with tracking healthcare associated infections
The HAIAR intern will be expected to:
Assist with organizing the annual Illinois Summit on Antimicrobial Stewardship
Assist with administering and analyzing survey of high volume antibiotic prescribers
Create and distribute communication products to healthcare providers and other stakeholders
Enter infection data into multiple databases including REDCap
Prepare materials for point prevalence surveys
Summarize results of point prevalence surveys
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in public health, science, or healthcare related field. Candidate must possess strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills as well as the ability to tend to details with minimal oversight. Candidate must also be proficient in Microsoft Excel, have reliable transportation, and be willing to travel around the Chicago-land area.
