Company Profile
TFK Chicago Voyagers
Company Overview
Founded in 2008, Chicago Voyagers provides adventure therapy services for youth from underserved neighborhoods and communities of color. Over the last ten years, our days of service to middle and high school-aged youth have nearly quadrupled. Our talented staff is dedicated to offering Chicagoland youth comprehensive support that help them grow into their potential, and we look forward to continued growth in our service reach.
Chicago Voyagers is committed to continuously improving diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and related efforts within our organization. This applies to our staff, our board, our volunteers, the youth we serve, and our programming. Chicago Voyagers is an equal opportunity employer.
For the low-income, predominantly minority, adolescents served by Chicago Voyagers (many of whom are living with poorly educated parents or living without parents all together), the risks are even higher. The need to act is clear. At Chicago Voyagers, we understand that supporting at-risk children throughout childhood is important, however supporting their journey as they transition to adulthood is essential if impoverished and at-risk youth are to stay on track to become successful and productive adults.
Company History
In 2008, in order to expand the impact of the local Trips for Kids program, Chicago Voyagers undertook the sponsorship of the chapter, moved it to Chicago, and renamed it. Chicago Voyagers integrated the programs and added activities such as canoeing, hiking, cross-country skiing, rock climbing, river trips, and camping.
Today Chicago Voyagers annually serves hundreds of teens from Chicago and the surrounding area with an intentional focus on underserved towns and neighborhoods. Along with our local program partners, Chicago Voyagers provides experiential, relationship-based outdoor adventure programming year-round. Every year, Chicago Voyagers increases its impact by serving more young people and increasing the length and intensity of programming. Our partners and youth served consistently report improved confidence, communication skills, teamwork, and personal responsibility.
