Description

WTTW (Chicago PBS) and WFMT (classical music radio station) are looking for a Corporate Controller to lead the accounting operations of the organization, ensuring accurate and timely financial information for the purposes of internal and external reporting and compliance. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

        -Supervise finance/accounting staff

        -Propose accounting process improvements

        -Recommend, implement, and maintain accounting policies and controls

        -Work with accounting firm to prepare annual tax returns

        -Prepare financial statements and regulatory information including divisional schedules and/or statements

        -Plan and implement annual audits with independent external auditors

        -Assist FP&A team with any accounting data requests

       -File timely financial regulatory reports

        -Manage accounting for endowment and other financial assets 

        -FCC Compliance Officer

Requirements

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

        -Mastery of accounting principles as it relates to financial reporting and GAAP

        -Organized and detail oriented

        -Expert user of Microsoft Excel and other office products

        -Oracle NetSuite proficiency preferred but not required

        -Solutions-oriented mindset

        -Customer-service oriented

        -Ability to work cross-functionally and across various levels of management

        -Flexibility in work schedule; 3 days in office minimum

 
EXPERIENCE: 

      -5 years or more of supervisory experience

      -7 years or more of accounting/finance experience with at least 5 years of experience in a controller capacity

      -Media and/or content company experience preferred

      -Non-profit experience required

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in accounting. CPA preferred.
